The Intelsat 901 was the first of 9 series satellite launched in June 2001 at 342 degree East.Intelsat 901 was an FS-1300HL; an improved version of the long-standing Space Systems/Loral (originally Aeronutronic Ford) FS-1300 platform the satellite was to provide voice and video services to Europe, America, Middle East and North Africa through 12 Ku-band transponders. With advanced features like selectable split uplink for SNG, the IS-901 is tailored for today's communications demands, such as DTH and Internet.
